2-6 Experimental Set-up for Investigation of Neutrons Distribution as a Function of Moderator Thickness at different proton Energies using Radiochemical Sensors
During the last experiment in (Nov.2001), the relation between the thickness of paraffin moderator and experimental production rate (neutron yield) at different position was studied at different proton energies using GAMMA-2 setup with lead target. The Nuclotron accelerator was used to produce relativistic protons with energies 1.5, 1.0 and
0.65 GeV [H2],
Ten La sensors were installed at the upper part of paraffin moderator, the first five La samples Nos. (1, 2, 3, 4 and 5) were placed onto the surface of moderator (0 mm), with the distance 55, 106, 154, 205, 250 mm measured from the front plate of paraffin moderator. The other five samples Nos. (6, 7, 8, 9 and 10) were arranged in a straight line separated by 55 mm and divided into two groups, the first group consists of three La samples Nos. (6, 8 and 10), which was placed at about 10 mm depth, and the second group consists of two La samples Nos. (7 and 9) placed at about 20 mm depth inside the paraffin moderator. Fig. 2-8 shows vertical view of lead target including La sensors positions [H2],
